The first step in the partnership process is completing the program application.
Individuals or families interested in applying for Holston Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program can request an application by calling the office at 423-239-7689. Or, you can download the Homeownership Application and mail to PO Box 5265, Kingsport, TN 37663.
Applications may also be picked up in person at the Holston Habitat for Humanity office located in Kingsport, TN. Call 423-239-7689 for directions.
Applications should be filled out completely and returned to the Holston Habitat for Humanity office along with any supporting documentation that is required. The application packet will be reviewed and processed by Homeowner Services.
Applicants will be notified of any additional documentation that is needed and will be updated periodically on the status of their application. Financial analyses, credit checks and other verifications will be completed by Homeowner Services. Members of the Homeowner Selection Committee will complete a home visit to assess the applicant’s need for improved housing and willingness to partner. Final approval of an application is determined by Holston Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors.
Qualified applicants will receive a Letter of Acceptance and sign a Partnership Agreement with Holston Habitat for Humanity. Applicants who do not qualify will receive a formal Denial Letter that includes the reason for denial and a list of resources within the community that may be able to assist. The application process takes approximately 2 months. The process may be longer for applicants who do not submit all required documentation or a fully completed application.
Application approval to homeownership takes approximately 6 to 18 months. Holston Habitat for Humanity is a long term homeownership program and is not designed to assist with immediate housing needs.
