Hurricane Helene Relief

Updated: Oct 3

A Message from Holston Habitat's Executive Director, Laura Kelly:

To our greater Habitat friends and family, we are receiving updates regularly on the devastating damage done across the Appalachian Highlands region by Hurricane Helene. Beyond Holston Habitat's service area (Carter, Washington, Sullivan Counties in TN and Bristol, VA), our neighbors in Unicoi County and further into the mountains of TN and NC are struggling. Roads have washed away. Trees and flooding have crushed and ruined homes and public infrastructure.

We are still trying to make contact with all of our Habitat homeowners, but have not yet reached some in Carter County. Please join us in prayer that this reflects a lack of connectivity, and that these families are not in danger. All of our staff and regular volunteers are accounted for and safe.

Holston Habitat will be a part of the long-term recovery efforts here in East Tennessee, and we will coordinate efforts alongside other Habitat affiliates and partner organizations like Appalachia Service Project , United Way of East TN Highlands, and more. To support rehabilitating and rebuilding housing for local residents affected by Hurricane Helene, please consider donating HERE: www.holstonhabitat.org/helenerelief.

Check on your neighbors. Tell your family and friends you love them. We will work in the coming months and years to rebuild our region, together.
